Advent is the name of a season before Christmas that runs counter to the hustle and hurry of many people's Christmas experience. Instead of moving fast we are encouraged to slow down, instead of thinking of buying we are challenged to find ways of giving, instead of Christmas presents we are asked to prepare for the presence of Jesus.
